Opemikon Shoreline Restoration

Event Description

Camp Opemikon is partnering with the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority to restore some of the shoreline of Christie Lake. We will be installing erosion control in a number of areas and and have over 150 trees, shrubs and other plants to plant as well.

The RVCA will have staff onsite to direct and assist but we need help with the work. We would start at 09:00 and would be done by late afternoon, lunch will be provided.

There is no cost to participate at this event, and we welcome all Troops, Companies, Crews, and Scouters who wish to attend!

VERTICAL SKILLS CAMP

November 2 - 4, 2018 at Camp Opemikon

Camp Opemikon will be hosting a weekend Vertical Skills camp for 3rd year Scouts, Venturer Scouts, and Rover Scouts participating with their Troop/Company/Crew. The aim of the weekend is to provide an opportunity for youth to gain knowledge leading to completion of competencies in the Vertical Outdoor Adventure Skill. Instructors will be on hand to provide the necessary guidance and ensure everything runs safely.

Youth and Carleton Area Scouters are encouraged to join us for the evening as we greet members of the public and showcase what makes each Carleton Area group unique. Each group can set up a display, talk to prospective members, and recruit parent volunteers. Youth can lead others in small activities and describe weekly meetings and adventure opportunities.

Event Description

Please help us reach out to youth and volunteers around the Council by volunteering at Scouts Canada's booth at the Carp Fair.  Our booth will have promo materials, a raffle for free new membership, and some youth activities. Admission to the Fair is covered for volunteers in uniform.  Scouters and youth are welcome to volunteer.

Start the Scouting year off with a bang!

Nepean Area is once again pleased to host S.T.A.R.T. - Scouters Talking About Relevant Topics - on the Second Thursday of each month, from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. at Scouts Headquarters, 1345 Baseline Road, Ottawa.

These free sessions are open to all Scouters and Rovers in council, and each month we will get together and discuss topics relevant to you!

JAMBOREE ON THE AIR – JAMBOREE ON THE INTERNET - 2018

On October 19 to 21, 2018, JOTA will celebrate its 61st Anniversary, and JOTI will celebrate its 22nd Anniversary. JOTA is the largest on-air gathering of Scouts in the world. Scouters of all ages gather together with fellow Scouts around the world by two-way radio. The Scouts Canada National Museum will be holding an Open House to invite Voyageur Scouters, Youth, Families and Groups to join us and participate in the fun.
