Event Description

This summer, 1st North Gower-Kars are hosting a canoe day on August 12 at the Baxter Conservation Area.

1st North Gower-Kars are offering a free canoe workshop with an ORCKA certified instructor on Saturday August 12th, with a rain date of Sunday August 13th, at Baxter Conservation Area.



This event is open to youth 10-15 years of age.

The following weekend, August 19th, 1st North Gower-Kars will be hosting an open house at the Kars RA.



On-Site-Registration takes place at 11:00

Details

The following two events are planned:

1. A free Canoe Workshop suitable for older Cubs and Scout aged kids

Learn and experience canoeing strokes and canoe/boating safety rules from a certified instructor.

Date: Saturday August 12th (rain date Sunday August 13th)

Time: Registration is at 11:

Training: 12 noon to 3 pm

Location: at the Beach in Baxter Conservation Area south of Kars. 7498 Carter Rd, Kars, ON

Limited spaces are available, Registration is based on first come first served, and priority will be given to registered scouts and cubs. 

 

2. Canoeing Open House open to youths of all ages

For youth aged 5 to 7 (Beavers), get a chance to ride in a canoe; for youth aged 8 to 10 (Cubs), get a chance to paddle a canoe; for youth ages 11 to 14 (Scouts), learn canoeing strokes and paddling techniques.

Date: Saturday August 19 (rain date Sunday, August 20th)

Time: 12 noon to 3 pm

Location: Kars RA centre Boat Launch, 1604 Old Wellington St, Kars,ON, Behind the Kars RA building and the rink.
