Paddle Night 2019

 

Cub Nights: March 9th, & March 16th

Guides Nights: March 23rd

Scout Nights: March 30th, April 6th & April 13th

 

The Voyageur Council Service Alliance: Service Corps would like to invite Scouts, Guides and Senior Cub Scouts to participate in this year’s Council-wide Paddle Nights!  The program includes hands-on sessions involving paddling techniques, canoe-over-canoe rescue, rescues with throw bags and self-rescue techniques.  This is an excellent opportunity for Cub Scouts, Guides and Scouts to have a great time while learning basic paddling skills just before the canoeing season!

 

Where:     Walter Baker Sports Centre,

                  100 Malvern Drive 

                  Nepean, ON

When:            Cub Nights: March 9th, & March 16th

Guides Nights: March 23rd

Scout Nights: March 30th, April 6th & April 13th

                  (Please plan to arrive with enough time to change and be on the

                  pool deck for the start of the program at 8:00PM)

 

Cost:  $20.00 per participant*

Participants are required to bring their own towel and swimsuit. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own PFD and paddle if they wish (ensure they are labelled). We are very limited on sizes of PFDs. 

 

On the night of the event at least one leader from each group must be present. Cameras are encouraged and leaders are invited to observe.

 

Registration starts immediately and will be on a first come, first serve basis. Payment is required for registration.  You are not considered registered until you receive an email from our paddle night contact notifying acceptance of payment.

 

You must email your completed form to the registrar before dropping off forms and money to ensure there is availability on the night you choose. Once space is confirmed, then payment can be submitted.

 

Due to the popularity of this program, we ask that your youth only be registered once as a Cub and once as a Scout, preferably not in consecutive years. The training does not change from year to year, and we would like to have more availability for those youth who have not taken the training.

 

For any Guiding members wishing to participate in this event, it is a “GREEN” event.

 

After registration has been received you will be sent an email with further important details.

 

*We do not provide refunds for participants who back out due to scheduling conflicts/illness. It is up to you to fill the spot.
