Visit the Canadian War Museum for free with your group on Thursday, November 7 and explore a range of Remembrance-themed activities. Uniforms are encouraged.

Admission to the Museum is free as of 5pm. Drop-in and self-guided activities begin at 5pm. Groups are welcome to arrive at any time throughout the evening. Groups are responsible for meeting their own ratio/supervision requirements. Please note the Museum expects adults to assist with managing group behaviour. The Museum closes at 8pm.

PLEASE REGISTER WITH THE MUSEUM: Call 819-776-7000 or order your tickets online by clicking here.

There will be lots to do and explore throughout the Museum. A downloadable guide with the schedule, activity descriptions and program connections will be available ahead of the event. This can be used with youth to facilitating their own planning. Print copies will be available on site.

Drop-in activities include: Poppy crafting, strategy games, Second World War scavenger hunt, and Girl Guides and Boy Scouts in wartime discovery cards, and all exhibitions and memorial spaces will be open.

Main scheduled event (most suitable for Beavers and Cubs): a reading of Sergeant Billy, a charming new picture book by Mireille Messier. (30 minutes, 6:45 p.m. in English, 6 p.m. in French). Sergeant Billy is a delightful tale inspired by the true story of a brave goat war hero. This true story follows Sergeant Billy from his small prairie town to the trenches of the First World War and back, through harrowing moments, sad moments, moments of camaraderie and moments of celebration. This unforgettable goat and the soldiers who loved him will capture your heart!

These activities connect directly to the Canadian Path: Citizenship program area. More information on program connections will be provided in the guide.

This event is entirely free of charge. Groups are required to register in advance. (Final numbers not required). Please register with the Museum by November 1. You can get your free tickets online or by calling 819-776-7000. All activities and staff are available in English and French.

Note: this event is open to other youth groups and members of the public.

Financial support provided by the Friends of the Canadian War Museum.
