Area Commissioner Appointment -- Heritage

We are pleased to announce Dave Stremes as the new Area Commissioner - Heritage, effective immediately.

Dave has spent his entire working career in the Information Systems arena, in many different roles, with an emphasis on analysis and quality assurance. Outside his work and Scouting life, he has a keen interest in railways, and as President of the Bytown Railway Society provides support to the Canada Science and Technology Museum and their railway collection, as well as maintaining their own collection of railway equipment. Dave is also Treasurer (soon to be just Director) of another non-profit organization associated with the City of Ottawa Archives that has an extensive collection of railway-related photographic images, books and related material.

Dave’s role will see him managing Heritage Area and leading the Area team. Dave began as a Colony Scouter with the 24th Ottawa in 2002 and has worked with Colony, Pack, and Troop sections. Dave joined the Group Committee in 2006 and became the Group Commissioner in 2011. He has since served as an Area Interview Scouter as well as a Deputy Area Commissioner for Heritage Area. Dave brings extensive Scouting experience and specific Heritage Area knowledge to the Area Commissioner role, and will be a strong advocate for the Area at Council.

Dave will be taking over from Steve Mihorean who has ably managed Heritage Area for the past three years, and taken it to over 10% growth this year – please join me in thanking Steve for all of his efforts in Heritage.

Please join us in welcoming Dave as a member of the Voyageur Council team. He can be reached at Dave.Stremes@scouts.ca.
