Area Commissioner Appointment -- Odawa

We are pleased to announce Charlene Martens as the new Area Commissioner - Odawa, effective June 9, 2017.

Whether with the Ministry of Natural Resources, Military Family Resource Centre, or Lifeguard Society of Canada, Charlene has taken her Northern Ontario upbringing, sense of community, directness, and sense of humour and served her communities as an Environmental Technician, military and family advocate, and Lifeguard and First Aid Instructor. An accredited Bookkeeper, Aquaculturist, Florist, and TD2 Scouting Trainer, wherever Charlene has called home, she has strived to be an active member of that community.

When not scouting you can find Charlene bringing floral arrangements to life at her shop, or she is cross stitching a new woggle or knitting a pair of socks, and other times she tries to steal a moment to read a good book.Charlene’s role will see her managing Odawa Area and leading the Area team. Charlene has spent most of her time in Odawa with the 3 rd Orleans as Group Commissioner, in addition to helping out with camp staff in Voyageur and as a committee member of the 14th World Scout Moot in 2013. More recently I had the pleasure of joining Charlene for the Area/Council Commissioners residential Woodbadge at Camp Opemikon in November, 2016.

On June 9 in a ceremony in Odawa, Charlene took over the reins of Odawa from Werner Liedtke who has ably managed Odawa Area for the past three years as well as pressing for improvements to the Apple Hill Scout Reserve. Please join me in thanking Werner for all of his efforts in Odawa.

Please join us in welcoming Charlene as a member of the Voyageur Council team. She can be reached at Charlene.Martens@scouts.ca.
