Deputy Council Commissioner Appointment -- Fundraising

We are pleased to announce Christopher Lyon as the new Deputy Council Commissioner - Fundraising, effective immediately.

Chris brings over 30 years of project engineering and senior management experience to this position, including successes in fundraising for recreation centres, hospices, churches and other charitable community ventures. He has a particular interest in collaborative partnerships and project-specific fundraising. As a professional civil engineer with consulting firms and government, Chris is familiar with major financial responsibilities and has delivered millions in dollars of civil engineering projects and innovations in East Ontario and West Quebec over the past decades. He is an ardent believer in Scouts Canada’s ‘No-One Left Behind’ program and believes that the Scouts Canada program offers unmatched opportunity for creative healthy development in our youth.

Chris brings a fresh set of eyes to our overall fundraising activities within Voyageur Council, and will help the Council, Areas and Groups improve how we raise funds, and the specific activities that will help drive success. Christopher served the 104th Ottawa Group in Colony and Troop roles from 2001-2015, and really enjoyed working with the youth and getting into the wilderness settings. Christopher was honoured with the Scouts Canada’s Medal for Good Service and a Certificate of Commendation from Canada’s Governor General in 2012. He was awarded his 10 year service award in 2013. Chris is an avid canoeist and folk guitar player.

Please join us in welcoming Chris as a member of the Voyageur Council team. He can be reached at Christopher.Lyon@scouts.ca.
