Scouting Relationship Managers (SRMs) Announcement

Voyageur Council is happy to accounce the hiring of Joel Kennedy as Scouting Relationship Manager (Full-time) supporting Valley Highlands, Rideau, Service Alliance, and Loyalist Areas.

Over the past month, we have been introducing Areas and Groups to our newest SRM team member from up North! Here’s what Joel had to say:

“Thank you all for your kind words of welcome. It feels great to work with a team that collaborates and works hard for the benefit of Scouting. I bring with me experience in sales and education supported by a Bachelor of Arts from Lakehead University. I have been a Scouting member for 18 years serving as Scouter and/or in a leadership position for 12 of those. My various roles have included Troop, AYC, and GC. In all those roles, help and support from the staff has been thorough and valuable. I hope to add to your monumental track record the best I can and I cannot wait to work on a project with each and every one of you. Please feel free to ask me for a meeting so we can discuss. The Scouting movement is different wherever you go but finding myself working for the organization which I grew up in, and near my hometown of Belleville, is an honour and a privilege. So; thank you for having me and as always “Yours in Scouting.”

Voyageur Council is also pleased to announce the hiring of Scouting Relationship Manager (Contract), Geoff Williams.

A familiar face to those in Nepean, and virtually to everyone across the country, we are really excited to have Geoff join our team:

“I started my adventures with Scouts as a young Beaver until Troop. I feel I owe a lot of who I am today to Scouts, participating in the program helped me to overcome some difficult challenges in my youth, and develop some friendships that I still hold today.

In my time at the Help Centre, I've focused on process development, automating workflows, and general support for agents, including on-boarding. The most rewarding part of my job is witnessing those moments of clarity when a volunteer or a peer is introduced to a new feature or new tool they didn't know existed previously.

Over the past few years I've expanded my knowledge of Scouting by taking on several volunteer roles. First as a Group Registrar then settling in as the Nepean Area Registrar. This role really opened my eyes to new perspectives within the organization and showed me there is still much about Scouting that I have yet to discover.

I'm looking forward to my new role as SRM and the challenges and responsibilities it will bring, especially the opportunity to learn more about active programming.”

Geoff will be supporting Nepean (formerly assigned to Kate) as well as Algonquin Hills and Carleton Areas (formerly assigned to Trish) on this maternity leave contract. We’re very excited to benefit from Geoff’s expertise and experience as a HelpCentre coordinator here in Voyageur and having him learn more about supporting volunteers “in the field”!
