Voyageur Council Partnerships
December 6, 2013 – Napanee, ON
Strathcona Paper and the three (3) Councils in Eastern & Northern Ontario are very pleased to announce the formation of a partnership to support the 2014 Scoutrees program. The Councils, Areas and Groups will be encouraged to significantly increase the number of trees planted this year and Strathcona Paper has committed to donating $1.00 per tree planted (incremental to the number planted in 2013) to a maximum of $2,000.00.
Strathcona Paper has indicated that should the 2014 plantings exceed our goal of up to 2,000 trees over what was planted in 2013, they would be receptive to the partnership becoming a multi-year donation, with the possibility of increasing the donation amount in subsequent years.
This is a terrific opportunity for groups, areas and councils to “grow” their Scoutrees participation in 2014, knowing that some financial support will be made available to offset the cost of purchasing your trees. Even better, this means increasing the dollars that remain at the group level from pledges collected.
Through this partnership Strathcona Paper and its employees, along with Scouts Canada members participating in Scoutrees, demonstrates, through action, our concern for the environment. By planting trees, Scouting youth learn about the important role trees have in our lives, the critical need for conservation, the huge impact of climate change and how we can do our part to create a better world. With Strathcona’s support, we will be positioned to “grow” the Scoutrees program across Eastern Ontario and contribute to the betterment of the environment.
