Camp Opemikon will be hosting a weekend Vertical Skills camp for 3rd year Scouts and Venturer Scouts participating with their Troop/Company. The aim of the weekend is to provide an opportunity for youth to gain knowledge leading to completion of competencies in the Vertical Outdoor Adventure Skill. Instructors will be on hand to provide the necessary guidance and ensure everything runs safely.

PADDLING SKILLS CAMP

June 22 - 24, 2018

Camp Opemikon will be hosting a weekend Paddling Skills camp for Scouts and Venturer Scouts participating with their Troop/Company. We will offer the Paddle Canada Lake Canoe Skills Introduction Tandem certification required to achieve competency 6.3 of the Paddling Outdoor Adventure Skill. Other competencies will be covered as part of the training, we leave it to the youth to track and decide if they have achieved the skill.

Voyageur Council will be hosting a Canoe Tripping Course.

The course is designed to provide a basis for Scouters and senior youth to learn to lead a canoe trip. This is a course for Scouters by Scouters. Although we follow a slightly modified version of Paddle Canada’s course requirements, this is not an official Paddle Canada Course and there will not be certificates issued.

The main canoeing course will be a Level 2 course.  But this small WW1 course will run at the same time.  Level 1 participants will train at Palmer Rapids on both days.
